The Vincent and Cécile Latour Estate

Some observations on their different wines, which I've translated from their own brochure.  We haven't as yet organised a tasting, but it is definitely forthcoming and seems most promising...

Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru: The vineyard is located within the
Bouchères and occupies merely 11 ha 43 a 78 ca.  It is one of
Meursault's best 1er crus.  It is naturally severe while remaining
gentle. It possesses a « square roundness », as we say in
Bourgogne, reveals a note of silex and is never harsh. It goes
well with fresh-water fish and some soft cooked cheeses, such as
the comté or the Cîteaux.

Meursault « Clos des Meix Chavaux »: Its colour is between
gold-green and slightly golden. When young it gives off floral
aromas: honeysuckle, linden, verbena and mint. When aged, it give
off aromas of grilled dry fruits (almonds and hazelnuts). Its
taste is very gentle, unctuous and ample, round and fleshy, and
powerful. It may best accompany fish, white meat, and goat cheese.
Older vintage bottles are marvellous to drink with a foie gras.

Bourgogne Chardonnay: A very floral and fresh wine, it is quite
balanced and simple. You may drink this wine with sausage, ham in
sauce, andouillettes or goat cheese. Best within 5 years.

Bourgogne Aligoté : The colour is between pale gold-green and
gold-green. It reveals floral, sometimes vegetal nuances (linden).
You may drink it cool with apperitif or oysters...
Best within 5
years.

Meursault Perrières, 1er Cru : The vines are planted in a rocky soil,
near old quarries (carrières).  It is a vintage wine that reaches its
full potential with age.  It is mineral, spicy, with hints of pepper.
It is also powerful/rich.  The M. Perrières is firm (structuré), limpid
and redolent with fine aromas.  Its depth (complexité) makes it perfect
for lobster (homard), crayfish (langouste), foie gras and kid game
(chevreuil).

Meursault Charmes 1er Cru: it's an opulent, complete, generous and
convivial wine.  It's fat, fleshy (charnu) and round.  It exudes
(dégager) aromas of honey and cream.
It may accompany a fatted chicken (poularde), a Bresse capon (chapon) or
a good foie gras.

Meursault Goutte d'or: it's a hard (dur) and resilient (tenace) wine.
It's beautiful colour becomes more yellow with age.
It may accompany frog-legs, fat fish, such as salmon.
